Could someone look up a marriage for me please?
One of my contacts has found a marriage for an Elizabeth Stowell/Jenkins to a George Brewster at St martin in the fields Westminster 25/12/1850, on Familysearch.
Please could sks check Ancestry to see if the marriage is shown in their London records? Many thanks Last edited by Lynn the Forest Fan; 01-04-11 at 06:06. |

Lynne, I think marriages for St Martin in the Fields only go upto 1834 on Ancestry
I'm waiting for a much later one! Anne |

Now that really is a pain! I searched Free BMD & found a marriage on there although it couldn't confirm that Elizabeth married George. I've tried searching for them in 1851 but not have an ancestry sub, I've not found much.

What do you know about them? The only George Brewster with wife Elizabeth in 1851 is in Thornton Dale, Yorkshire

Well Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Jenkins c1810 in Cardigan Wales. She married Samuel Stowell 14/5/1832 St Mary Lambeth. Samuel died June 1848. Elizabeth is missing 1851 & 1861, but in 1871 & 1881 she is shown as Stowell. My contact found the marriage on Familysearch and that is the first I've heard of George Brewster

I may be able to look it up when I go to Westminster Archives but have no idea when that will be.

Thanks for the offer Nell. My contact did say that he would probably order the cert. If it is the right one, which seems likely, then we will have the name of her father which we never had before.

My contact ordered the cert last night, estimated date of delivery 7th April. I will keep my fingers crossed that it is right.
