Default Herbert Parkin (Parkin-Grove) (OH's)

Name - "official" name and what they were known as: Herbert Parkin, later Herbert Parkin Grove (Parkin used as a middle name rather than double-barrelled surname)

Date and place of birth: 4th October 1876 in Thorpe Hesley, Wentworth near Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Names of parents: Clara Parkin & ?????

Date and place of baptism: 1st February 1880 at St John the Evangelist, Masborough, Rotherham. States child of single woman, Clara Parkin and gave the correct date of birth. Found this baptism by pure chance.

Details of each of his or her marriages: Married as Herbert Parkin Grove on the 10th June 1900 at St John the Evangelist, Masborough, Rotherham, to Lucy Ellis.

Occupation(s): Boiler Maker

Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on:
1881: 34 Wilton Gardens, Kimberworth, Rotherham. Listed as a vistor to the Grove family.
1891: 34 Wilton Gardens Kimberworth, Rotherham. Still listed as Herbert Parkin but now listed as a son to the Grove family. There is a symbol in front of son which might mean adopted son.
1901: Vine Street, Masborough, Rotherham with wife Lucy and her parents. Now listed as Herbert Parkin Grove
1911: 27 Vine Street, Masborough, Rotherham with wife Lucy and children.

Date, place and cause of death: Dec Q 1919, Rotherham. Dont have the certificate yet.

Date and place of burial / cremation: Unknown

Details of will / administration of their estate: Didnt leave

Memorial inscription: Unknown
----------

All children of Herbert & Lucy have Parkin Grove as middle name/surname.

I have never found out who Clara Parkin and what became of her. I dont know how much involvement she had with Herbert but she must have been around until at least until he was 4 years old as she had him baptised four years after he was born and nowhere near Thorpe Hesley.

The "symbol" next to Son on the 1891 census is an "F", presumably short for Foster.
