Still no name index, though.

They've also updated the London Marriages and Banns 1754-1921, Births and Baptisms 1813-1906 and Deaths and Burials 1834-1980. I'm not sure what's been added yet so I don't know whether to get excited or not!

I wish they would give us some idea of what they add when they do these updates - I spent some time this morning looking for some elusive marriages/burials yet again with no joy....

Going back to the Poor Law records there's actually quite a lot more stuff on there now but I for one will have to set aside some time and systematically go through the records year by year as I know many of my ancestors spent a lot of time in the Workhouse!

Sue,
Excuse my ignorance are these Poor Law Records from the early Parish Workhouses or later?

The collection is from 1834 - 1940 Julie, but is still patchy. In some parishes the coverage is good in others you'll only get later years. I'm afraid the only way to find out if the records you need are there is to trawl through them as they're not indexed (yet)

Good luck!

It's been updated again, but I have no idea what they've added.

There's a lot of new records for Bethnal Green, Shoreditch and Stepney - I wonder if they are the same records that were being indexed by WAP, and whether the indexes are on their way?

In the mean time I've found my 3x gt grandmother, 2x gt grandmother and my 3x gt grandfather from another line, all receiving relief at some time from Bethnal Green. But I didn't find the family that I know were in and out of the Workhouse!

One entry made me laugh (not my relative I hasten to add) "Margaret Warren, aged 16, born in the house, a lazy hussy"!
