Default Help reading occupatin please

I can't work out the occupation for James Renew c1829

1861 - RG9; Piece: 247; Folio: 71; Page: 22
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...c=&pid=5593823

1901 - RG13; Piece: 1600; Folio: 61; Page: 32
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...c=&pid=9140761

The 1901 is a bit clearer than the 1881 but I still can't figure out what it's meant to be.

Not found him yet in 1891 - will add link up if I do

Thanks for looking

Zoe

The 1901 has India scrawled across it.

I'm thinking india rubber.

When my daughter was doing textiles for GCSE she did screen printing and had to use something she called "Gutter" (sp) to stop the colours running together.

I could be well off the mark, off to google
