Scotlands People
Up and running and first thing I notice is you can search mother's maiden names on Statutory Births hurray!
Edit but only up to 1917/1918, actually a bit erratic just found a 1919 birth with maiden name probably still in progress. Last edited by maggie_4_7; 24-11-22 at 09:55. |

I think some aren't searchable just checked a few in Aryshire from 1890 to 1900 and a lot don't have MMN recorded/showing and not searchable but after 1912 to 1917 they are so not sure what's happening.

Hmm. Just done a straightforward search for my grandmother's birth and found no results. As I have the certificate already, I find that odd!
Not sure I like the new search interface either. OC |

I checked my great-grandparents for children and I have all four daughters with mother's maiden name. This was from 1895 onwards in Dumfries and Glasgow.

It hasn't changed much at all except for adding MMN on Statutory Births.

Oh, it is a completely different search interface for me.
Off to have another go. OC |

Not only can you search using mother's maiden name, but also it actually shows the mother's maiden name in the search results. Well, for some birth records at least.

Sounds like some improvement then. I don't remember who I need to be looking for though.
