Does anyone have access to ww1 records if you have would it be possible for you to look up Joseph Bennett Royal Irish fusiliers battalion number 16576, I would like to know what battalion he was in to find out where he was posted during ww1.

Can’t see anything on ancestry for his service record a lot of records didn’t survive. Have you tried the National Archives?

His medal index card is available on TNA website. I think that at the moment, if you log in you can download it for free:

I can't find a service record on Ancestry either, but there is the medal roll which says the following in the column headed "In sequence Units and Corps previously served with by each individual...":
8 R. Ir. Fus. 16576 Pte 7/8 R. Ir. Fus. 16576 1 R. Ir. Fus. 16576 but it doesn't give dates when he transferred from one to another. https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer...ce&pId=3061478 The medal index card shows that he received the Victory medal and the British War medal, but doesn't have any further info. |
