adopted at aged 2 nearly 3
Can I ask if someone is adopted at 2 - is their original birth record taken off freebmd ???

No, it isn't (though bear in mind that FreeBMD only has the indexes, not the actual records, anyway). If someone applies for a copy of the birth certificate, they will find that the word "adopted" has been added to the certificate, though.

Don't know about freebmd but the original is still in the indexes on ancestry. There is no revised index entry with the new name on though.

The new name would be in the Adopted Children's register at the GRO, but these records are closed to the general public.
