Default Abbreviation in PR, possibly Latin.

http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...019062%2f00927

This is the baptism for John Hyde, the first entry in 1582. This word/abbreviation (the last one) appears at regular intervals in the register at this time.

I wish I knew what it meant!

I think it is "Fili", i.e. son, but I'm not sure exactly what he means by it - "my son", maybe?

Well, silly me, I was reading the F as a capital E!

This is the vicar recording his children's baptism. John Hyde, whom we met before.

Thank you, Kate.

Is it possible that it's a child whose father has the same name - so Fili (or Filius/Filia: son/daughter) amounts to the same thing as "junior"?

Christine

Yes, Christine, the father is John Hyde, the Vicar.
Thanks!
