Elizabeth Adams Edwards
Elizabeth was born in 1841, a fortnight before the census was taken, in Plymouth.
Her last surviving parent died in Kingsand in 1867 and Elizabeth was executor: http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...hlights=%22%22 http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/19...nSearchResults by 1871, Elizabeth is lodging with Helen Slope, still in Kingsand: http://search.findmypast.co.uk/recor...hlights=%22%22 She must have met George Rogers, whom she married in 1875, through Helen, as Helen's mother's name was Rogers and by 1891 Elizabeth is again with Helen, this time described as cousin. http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/65...nSearchResults But can anyone spot Elizabeth in 1881?

Do you have any information about George Rogers, Phoenix? The marriage is listed on FamilySearch and it says he was 26, but to view the image and see the rest of his details, I would have to be at a FamilySearch Centre.

True, but I have seen incorrect status on records before, so I just wondered.

If the FS ages are correctly transcribed then Elizabeth has knocked off about 5 years from her age, so it might be reasonable to imagine George's age may be incorrect too as he appears to be a few years younger than her. I wondered if this was his death?
Deaths Mar 1878 ROGERS George 26 Plymouth 5b 252 So there's a half reasonable chance she was a widow in 1881. Obviously her OH might have been in the navy etc (given the area) so the death is only a 'maybe'.

The burial record on FMP for that George gives his residence as 5 Holycross Lane, Plymouth.
But sorry to say there is no Rogers at that address in 1881: http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/75...2201_2204-0098 |

There are some public trees on ancestry with George Rogers and Elizabeth Adams Edwards on, with loads of attached records, but unfortunately they seem to have got the wrong couple on all those records.

I don't know anything about George, and 'cousin' could mean second or third cousin.
Perhaps I could abandon house tidying and head to Kew It would be good to get a handle on him. It's interesting that they marry in the Plymouth area, rather than Maker. It suggests she is following him, not the other way around.
