Fantastic, Kate! I have found my 1st cousin twice removed, Herbert Charles Purkis. He was Master in the Merchant Navy and the first record I looked at had his signature. He died in Durban, South Africa, in 1916.

Tip: many people will be listed by initial(s) instead of full first name(s), so try leaving the first name out of your search or searching by initial. Edit - I've merged this with my old thread about the same database to avoid confusion. I assume the database has been updated recently. |
