They say "transcribed by members of the Nottinghamshire Family History Society", so I assume these are from the Notts FHS's CD-ROMs. I know there was a difference of opinion between various members of the Notts FHS about whether their records should be made available online or not, and for years you had to pay quite a lot of money to buy the CD's or go without, so I'm very glad that at last these records are available online. Off to look for my ancestors... (it just so happens that my TF6G ancestors this week are from Nottinghamshire!)

They don't seem to have very good coverage of the particular parishes where my ancestors lived, for example Elkesley and Bole. Good job I never bought the CD's!

Sounds interesting. I must take a look later. I have loads from Nottinghamshire as you know Kate.

Not particularly good coverage for some of the large city parishes, I've found

The Worksop records are coming in useful for me - when I've looked at them at the Notts Archives, there have been so many pages to look through and not very easy to make out the writing, so it's easy to miss something. I've already found a marriage that I didn't have before.

Never knew you had ancestors in Bole. I used to live just over the river from there. Teeny place that never seemed to have any visible form of life in it.

We viewed a bungalow that was for sale in Bole but didn't fancy living with West Burton power looming over us. It is indeed a very small place - one street as I recall. I'm not sure whether there is any life there (apart from lorries going to and from the power station)!

Found OH's grandmother's family records from St Mary's, Nottingham on fmp. We debated many times whether to buy the Nottingham FHS CDs but always came down on the side of them being too expensive, especially as St Mary's was well represented on familysearch.
