1851 census glitch
There seems to be a problem with the 1851 census on Ancestry.
If you enter a county or place of birth, no results at all come up. If you omit them, the results appear as usual. The problem seems to happen with all counties. I've reported it to Ancestry. |

I'm glad it's not only me. I've had the same problem and when at the results page for all the census, I can see that there are several entries for the name I'm looking for in 1851, but when I click on the link, I get the message "no matching entries found".
I've also reported it to Ancestry.

I've had "no matching entries" for a variety of searches, mostly where I've been searching without a surname.

That would explain why I had so much trouble searching on forname & age only.

Is anybody else still having a problem with this? I've (not surprisingly) had no response to my email and it's still not working...

Another oddity. On the new 1916-2005 death search, the "inferred county" for Sunderland seems to be Northumberland, not Durham.

I've just tried the 1851 census and had the same problem.
