Default Cowherd/coward from Westmorland

Hi All, I'm tracing my family with the above names. They originate mainly from the Ulverston, Kendal, Furness (and, distantly, Hawkshead) areas of present day Cumbria.
I've gone back with my direct line to 1498 and have now started researching various branches. Of course, I've come up against several brick walls and I'm wondering if anyone out there is researching either name - Cowherd or Coward, although I do realise that these names are not in the site's database.
I know that family members have emigrated to Canada, America, Norway and Australia.
Any help or information will be greatly appreciated.
Mike.

Thanks Julie. I'll get something specific posted when I next get time to be on here.
