Mabel, Florence & Herbert Jarvis
Can anyone find them in the 1901 census?
They were the children of Arthur Jarvis, a chemist who died in 1900 by his first wife. On the 1891 census their birthplace is given as London. In 1894, they were 12, 10 and 8 and living at 53 Dalston Lane. The SPCC brought a case against the father and stepmother for ill-treatment. By 1901, Arthur's children by his second wife were farmed out among the maternal aunts but I've lost Mabel, Flossie & Bertie. I've looked on FMP, but cannot see obvious candidates for migration.

On familysearch 1901 census, there is a Herbert Jarvis age 14, who is in Horton Kirby, Dartford Kent, born London, inmate of Institution. FMP says its a school, RG/13/710
Familysearch also has 18 year old Florence Jarvis, servant born in Islington London, in St Marks, Eccles Bierlow, Yorkshire. No luck with Mabel. Di |

Thank you both!
With such common names they are intent on disappearing into the shadows. Harriet appears to have cast her entire family to the winds by 1901. I feel sorry for all of the children. And I can't think why not a peep of this filtered down to later generations.
