I've just had an email from FindMypast advertising this:
'We are proud to launch the first ever Findmypast Friday! Every Friday from now on we will be bringing you thousands of new records to explore over the weekend. This is our promise to you: to bring you new, and often exclusive, records every week.'

This week it's:
• Dorset Marriages 1538-1902
• London Poor Laws Records, 1581-1899
• Northamptonshire Hearth Tax, 1674
• Archbishop of York Marriage Licenses 1613-1839

Ooh, looks like some of those are databases they're copying over from British Origins.

It seems to be all transcriptions.

I'm not complaining, though, I've just found my 5xg-grandfather's marriage licence which gives his age - so perhaps I can confirm his birth now.

I'm confused about this week's new records. I've just had a "Findmypast Fridays" email which says:


This week we have added almost half a million new records including:

Irish parish registers for County Fermanagh
Irish cemetery records for County Tyrone
British marriage records for Eastbourne, East Sussex
British baptism records for Eastbourne, East Sussex

But when I click "See this week's new records", I get:
Eastbourne Marriages, Bodle Street Green 1856-1986 - 726 records
Eastbourne Baptisms, Bodle Street Green 1841-1996 - 1,328 records
Wicklow Cemetery Records, Old Kilmurry RC 1831-2008 - 188 records
Donegal Cemetery Records , Finner 1737-2011 - 1,021 records
Tyrone Cemetery Records, Fivemiletown 1698-2011 - 1,384 records
Fermanagh Cemetery records 1669-2011 - 10,376 records
Fermanagh Parish Registers, Baptisms 1796-1873 - 3,312 records.

A total of 18,335 records. So where do they get "almost half a million" from?

Also the email says it is their first ever "Findmypast Friday", but isn't it the second one today?
