Default Could someone decipher a Google Books entry.

I'm trying to find the date of this entry to see if it could be my Hugh Addison's grandson, Edward.

I do know that the Jane Campbell mentioned as Edward's wife goes on to marry Roger Pocklington in 1802.

Thanks.

Possibly a bit late as Edward and Jane marry in 1788.....if I have the notice date correct.

Looks to be around 1800 or 1801.

1800.

On an earlier page, it says "Mrs Addison was a native of Scotland... she came to England at the age of 19; was shortly after married; and when the fact complained of took place she was but 26."

"He then proceeded to call his witnesses and produced the clergyman who married Mr and Mr Addison about the year 1789, at St Clement Danes Church."

You can find all the references to the case in that book here:

Thanks Mary.

I was just trying to find if this Edward was the grandson of Hugh, mentioned in his will. The will was dated 1742 and the Edward was not yet 21.

Maybe another generation down...or no relation at all. Jane Campbell was the daughter of Sir James Campbell of Scotland.

If you mean that your Jane was the daughter of Sir James, then it's the same couple; there's another report of the trial here, which says they were married at St Clement Danes in April 1788:

Mary...it's the Addison side I'm looking for.

I am still looking for anything on Hugh Addison who died in 1743. I am fairly certain he married Jane Scale/s because of the will of Jane's father. Hugh's daughter, Agnes is elusive until her marriage to William Kirkby in 1727. I have nothing on any other children for Hugh and Jane except mention of grandchildren in his will. They are obviously a son's children as they have Addison as their surname.
