Allan, don't forget, parents get 6 weeks from the birth of the baby to register him /her, so it does work as the 6 weeks from that birth date would take them into July, therefore the July-September quarter.

I wouldn't have thought she'd want to be older than she was Allan.

My mum took 2 years off her age - she was married, retired at 68 and died as being 2 years younger.

Anyone looking for my birth registration might wonder. I was born in December but my birth wasn't registered until the March quarter of the following year. It was war-time so my father was away fighting and my mother was ill after my birth so it took her several weeks to register me.

My grandfather was born on 29 May 1900, but his birth registration is shown in the September quarter of that year.

My father was born on 17th Feb which means his birth should have been registered by the end of March (so Q1) but the registration wasn't done until 12th April.

My grandmother's birth in 1876 wasn't registered - found her christening but no birth registration.

Thank you all...sorry for the delay but our broadband has been playing up ...after I had posted ,I realised that 6 weeks later would bring the registration into sept qtr ....
I have found out that she was one of 16 children ...her parents were
John Larne b 1904 Liverpool
Ellen Grant ...quite a common name so not sure what year she was born but I am looking at 1908 West Derby ( Kirkdale on Lancsbmd ) but there is another Ellen Grant b Toxteth Park ...Ellen Grant married in Kirkdale and had all her children in Kirkdale , so the 1908 birth looks more likely ...
the parents of these two would be nice ...I have names which I think are correct - but confirmation would help ...
once again , thank you all
allan

Is thee a way to find out when her parents died without alerting her? (as you said this is a surprise). If you had their rough dates of death it might be possible to work out which births are correct.

oh hey Merry ??...I suppose I will have to go the pub to see her daughter and ask ...lol...they own the local pub so that`s the only place I can get the info...the daughter told me yesterday that John Larne was birched for stealing a bucket for Ellen to put the nappies in !!!...seems a little extreme for the time ?
