Default Maths help please

Still trying to track down elusive 2nd marriage of my gt grandmother Emma.
Her first husband Thomas Matthews died 01 May 1879.

She appears 1881 census taken 03 Apr as wife of John Garvie, though I haven't found the marriage.

1911 census taken 02 Apr she is widowed. She gives her marriage as being 29 years, which means she was married 1881/2? Trying to track it down to a month.

My mind is full of numbers and I can't think clearly. Please help!

When did John Garvie die, Nell? Could it mean they were married for 29 years before his death? Also the number might not be very accurate and I don't think you can narrow it down to a month if it only gives number of years.

He died 10 Jan 1909. So if she meant 29 years before that, it would be 1880, which fits nicely between the year she was widowed and the year she appears as his wife.

But I don't think I'm ever going to track down their marriage, though I've a short time envelope. So frustrating.

Thanks.

This looks like her in 1881 for anyone who wants to look.

1881 census

1911 census

Nell it says she has a 27 year old son. Have you found his birth reg? Just wondering if they married somewhere unlikely?

It's possible they never married but lived as husband and wife.
I have a supposed second marriage for my grandfather's brother. His first marriage is in the family bible as is his wife's death but there is no second marriage listed and nothing in the GRO records although all the children from that union are listed in the bilble and birth registrations and baptisms have been found.

My 3xg-aunt got married in Canada, although both she and her husband were from England and they then returned to England and their children were born here.
