Julie, I don't know whether you have seen on Cornwall OPC that there are baptisms at Redruth for children of Thomas and Mary Williams in 1737, 1739 and 1742, including a Mary (1739). So I think they are likely the couple who got married in 1732 at Redruth and unlikely to be the parents of your Mary jr.

There is also the marriage of a Thomas Williams and Mary Geffery 12 Feb 1732 at St Buryan, but they have a son Thomas baptised 23 Sep 1733 at St Buryan so unlikely they are your couple either.

There is a Thomas Williams marriage to a Mary Tonken 14 Jan 1725 at Gunwalloe, possible?

Cornwall OPC has a Thomas Williams buried 10 Nov 1733 at Breage, another 25 Nov 1760 and another 6 Sep 1770, no other information.
Also a Thos Williams buried 28 Mar 1766 and another 28 May 1774 and another 20 May 1777, all at Germoe.


But although their database covers Germoe, it doesn't seem to have Mary jr's baptism. Oh wait, found it now but it is listed as Breage? Also Breage on FamilySearch.

Robert Ford married Margreat Serrell (lots of variants) at Germoe, Cornwall 1/1/1770. Our family record says that their first daughter Margreat, was born 10/8/1770, baptised 17/10 at Germoe, both the OPC and FS have the names of mother and daughter’s name as Mary which is wrong,

Now I am looking at the record of Mary Williams daughter of Thomas and Mary baptised 1/1/1733 Breage dau of Thos and Mary Williams, but I am thinking that the mother’s name should be Margaret too.

On 23/11/1736 was baptised Elisabeth daughter of Thos & Margt; on 25/6/1738 was baptised Margaret dau of Thomas and Margaret. On the 31/12/1734 married at St. Hilary are Thomas Williams of Breage and Margaret Roberts otp (both OPC and Phillimores.)

I conclude from this that Mary Williams parents, married 31/12/1734 at St. Hilary, were Thomas Williams and Margaret Roberts. Does this make sense? Julie

I'm completely baffled as to where Margreat Serrell fits in with the Williamses, but it looks unlikely that Margaret Roberts would be Mary's mother if Mary was baptised 1 Jan 1733 and Thomas and Margaret were married 31 Dec 1734.

Sorry Kate what I was saying was that with the Fords Marg was transcribed as Mary, it may have happened with the Margaret (the mother) Williams too.
It seems strange that Thomas & Mary have a child bpt Breage 1733 (and no other children baptised in Breage) and Thomas & Margaret have children bpt 1736 and 1738.
I am also thinking there might be a transcription error with the bpt yr for Mary. I wonder if she was born before marriage then parents married 31/12/1734 at St. Hilary and Mary bapt next day at Breage 1/1/1735 not 1733. I really need someone who can view the registers. I know that some of these registers were very hard to read. There is a fellow on a Penwith site that has some of the films he might be able to check it.

You could look on FamilySearch to see whether they have the PR images for the marriages mentioned in posts #1 and #2 to see it it gives the parishes of residence. I would look myself but my internet is going really slow and I'm off to bed in a minute. I'd forgotten that FamilySearch had Cornish PR images until someone mentioned it earlier today (Nell?)
