Chertsey estate
Helping with family tree and the story is that the great grandfather worked for a Lord.
Have found him as an under gamekeeper at Botleys & Lynne in Chertsey in 1891. His father is a gardener presumably for the same "Lord". RG12; Piece: 552; Folio: 111; Page: 9; GSU Roll: 6095662. I've googled (badly) and nothing has come up. Anyone know where to look - thanks

Thank you so much Kite.
I'm not much good at googling. What I was trying to find is whether there was a Lord at Botley's Park to prove what I've been told. It doesn't look like it though from the link you've given. Great information though for them. Thanks.

Georgiana Gosling of Botleys, who was born in 1832, married Sir William Henry Clarke, Baronet, of Mertyn Hall, Flintshire, Wales. Perhaps this gave rise to the story of working for a 'lord'?

Thanks Shona - perhaps they were an aristocrat family then.
