Mary Ostle
Name - "official" name and what they were known as Mary Ostle
Date and place of birth 6 Feb 1733 Newtown, Cumberland Names of parents Thomas Ostle and Mary nee Stordy Date and place of baptism - if applicable Presumably not baptised as she married as a Quaker Details of each of his or her marriages - if any 17 Nov 1756 at Beckfoot Meeting House, Cumberland, to William Glaister. Both "of Newtown in the Lordship of Holme Cultram". Occupation(s) - if any Housewife Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!). 1758-1771 Newtown, Cumberland Date, place and cause of death 1793 Cumberland Date and place of burial. 6 Aug 1793 Holme, Cumberland Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable Not found Memorial inscription - if any Not found Link to daughter's thread: Ruth Glaister I have a note saying that there are two possible births for her on BMD Registers - one 1733 with parents Thomas and Mary, and one 1734 with father John. I haven't viewed the images yet, but I have viewed the marriage image and it doesn't give any info to help. William and Mary's first two sons were named John and Thomas, but William's father's name was John, and they don't seem to have named a child after William's mother, so I can't figure out who Mary;s parents were likely to be from her children's names. There is a likely burial on BMD Registers (listed 4 times!) in 1793 at Holme, Cumberland. But FamilySearch gives the father's name as Joseph Glaister for the burial 16 Aug 1793 - or perhaps there are two Mary Glaisters buried that year because there are quite a lot of entries on BMD Registers and only 2 of them are shown as father Joseph Glaister. FamilySearch shows a burial 6 Aug 1793 which could be her.

Have you seen this? Don't know how accurate the research is, but it does seem to have a lot of info.

That's interesting, thanks, Shona. I think I have seen it before but was still trying to find something to prove for sure how my William and Mary fit into the families. But looking at it again made me realise I have the wrong year for William and Mary's marriage! Looking back at the image, it is 1756, not 1758.
