Cannot locate a death or location on the 71 census
Hi,
I am currently looking at Faith Eliza Cutts who was born in 1840 in Sheffield. She was the daughter of Matthew Cutts, Sawyer, & Faith Cockayne. Faith married a man named Joseph Eggington on the 1st December 1863 at St Philips, Shalesmoor, Sheffield. His occupation is listed as a Solider H.Ms 84th Regt. She marries again at the same church on the 22nd April 1867 to a James Dockerty/Docherty. James is also a Solider but no further info is given on the marriage entry. Faith is listed as a widow on the 2nd marriage but I have been unable to locate a death for Joseph Eggington. They had a child named Clara Louise Eggington who was born in Sheffield in 1864. I have also been unable to locate Faith, her 2nd husband, Clara Eggington or any Dockerty children on the 1871 census. I am wondering if they could have possibly been in Ireland at the time of this census as James gives his birth place as Ireland on the 1891 census. However, he states his birth place is Birmingham on the 81 and 1901 censuses. They have a child named John Dockerty who was born in 1867 in Sheffield according to census. I am also wondering if because both the husbands were soldiers, could it be that Joseph Eggington died somewhere abroad, therefore I cannot locate a death for him. Also, could the family be abroad somewhere in 71 to why I cannot locate them at all. If anyone can see anything that I cannot, I would really appreciate some assistance. Many thanks in advance.
