Clara Buck
Clara Webster married William Buck 25 Jul 1853 @St Leonard's Shoreditch.
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...c=&pid=1297042 They have son, William in 1854 who was baptised in Bethnal Green. Then they disappear. There are a few possibles on the 1861 that I believe I have discounted (happy to be proved wrong though!) Can anyone find them - dead or alive, anywhere? William was a mariner at the time of marriage, perhaps they went overseas?

Just wondering if this the same William Buck marrying in 1859 - http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...c=&pid=1047155
Even though the occupation for both groom and his father is different. But I still can't see a death for Clara.

Clara's father on the marriage is Joshua Webster, hairdresser, and the witnesses are Joshua Webster and Jane Webster, so this is her in 1851, before her marriage, just to get her birthplace, and it is Spitalfields:

The William on that second marriage is a bachelor and his handwriting looks very different - just wondering why you think it could be the same William, Sue?

There is a Clara Buck death Jul-Sep 1873 St Olave district, age 43, but if that's her she should be somewhere on the 1871 census. Edit - also I see there is a Clara in Bermondsey in 1871 who fits that death but isn't your Clara.

Hmm, the address on William jr's baptism is 23 Quaker Street, and there is a family at 4 Quaker Street, Spitalfields in 1861 but with a different occupation for William sr:
William Buck Head Mar 32 Bricklayer Middlesex Wm Buck Son 8 Scholar " Ann Jane B Dau 6 " Benjamin Buck Son 4 ". 1861 census |

No, looks like that Quaker Street family in 1861 are not the same people because there is a baptism for that William jr in 1852 and his mother is Jane, also they weren't living at Quaker Street when Benjamin was baptised in 1855 (mother also Jane). Back to the drawing board...

Thanks for looking Kite - I got quite excited when I saw the Quaker St family but found the baptisms at about the same time as you, lol.
