Fascinating radio documentary
I've just been listening to Document on BBC Radio 4. It was about women voting in the 1840s. They cross-referenced census records, poll books, poor records and other information to reveal this little-known history of women's suffrage. They also found and interviewed a descendant of one of the women who was voting in the 1840s. Well worth listening to.

I didn't hear the documentary, but am reminded of a female relative, the widow of a farmer, who was voting in the early 1800s. Also somewhere I'm sure I have a maiden lady who was voting early/mid 1800s. She owned a Draper's shop.
