Default Deeply frustating!

William Bryant is NOT married to Sarah. She is his deceased wife's sister, so the vicar forbade the banns.

Ann Bryant is actually Ann Moore, Sarah's daughter.

Little Marina, aged 7, was baptised in the Independent chapel as the daughter of William and Sarah in 1833.

Was she really Sarah's daughter? Sarah would have been 48, and there's no known child in the previous six years after the deaths of both Sarah & William's partners.

Marina died five years later.

Even if there could be a dna test done, I imagine that the bloodlines are so complicated that understanding the results might prove a challenge.

It doesn't say they are married on the census, though, since it is the 1841.

Of course there are loads of census entries which do say "married" when they aren't.

Frustrating? Frustrating? Huh! Try this one:

James Holden 70
Margaret Holden 65
James Holden 20
James Holden 15
James Holden 15
Jane Holden - age unknown.

They are in the banns book, but not the marriage register:

Okay, OC. I yield. (though it's probably easier to have all three young James under one roof than spread through the community)

It's the "Jane Holden age unknown" which really gets me. I mean......babe in arms? Wizened old woman? Couldn't they have had some sort of guess?

I'd say she was elderly and either didn't want to reveal her age or didn't know her age. Peter's grandfather lived until he was in his 90s.. He wrote to his brother when he was elderly and asked his brother "How old are you, as I'm older than you!!.."

I agree with Janet. Probably elderly. Or under 15. (just being helpful with the last part)
