Lots of information from 3 entries!
I am now a member of the P*rr*tt Society and a contact has taken me back into Oxfordsire for my ancestor Richard Parrott, who married Prudence Silverside.
Three hits on Oxfordshire Archives search engine gave me just three results, but has helped with a tree! Title Marriage Settlement Description PARTIES: 1. Richard Parratt of Blechington, Gardiner. 2.a) John Spindler of Blechington, Yeoman. b) Francis Braithwaite of the same, Yeoman. PROPERTY: Messuage in Blechington with all out-houses. COMMENTS: 1 is to marry Prudence Silverside, daughter of Alice, wife of 2a. 1 therefore assigns the property to 2 in trust for the Marriage Settlement. Date 03/May/1650 Title Marriage Settlement Description PARTIES: 1.a) John Spindler of Blechington, Yeoman. b) Alice, Wife of 1a. 2.a) Francis Braithwaite of the same, Yeoman. b) John Palmer of the same, Gent. c) Henry Silverside of the same, Yeoman. 3.a) Dorothie Batt, wife of Richard Batt of the same, Yeoman (formerly wife of Robert Johnson). b) Dorothie Johnson, daughter of 3a and Robert Johnson of the same, Yeoman, decd., and granddaughter of 1b. PROPERTY: Close of pasture or heath ground called the Heath close in Blechington. CONSIDERATION: £20 (from 1 to 3a). COMMENTS: 3b and 2b are to marry. 1 give the property to 2 in trust for the settlement. 1b was also the mother of Prudence, wife of of Richard Parratt (see 11D/5). Date 18/Sep/1665 Title Mortgage Description PARTIES: 1. Prudence Parrott of Blechington, Widow of Richard Parrott, and one of the 2 daughters of Alice Silverside (later Spindler). 2. Richard Parrott, a son of 1. PROPERTY: Moiety of a close of pasture called Furfeild (described) in Blechington. CONSIDERATION: £40 and £6. Date 31/Aug/1683 So it seems that Alice Silverside had two daughters. She was obviously a widow and married John Spindler. Her daughter Prudence married Richard Parrott. Richard died. They had a son Richard. Meanwhile, it looks as though Alice also had a daughter Dorothie - The second daughter? Dorothie had married Robert Johnson and had a daughter, also Dorothie! Robert Johnson died and Dorothie his widow married Richard Batt. Robert and Dorothie Johnson's daughter Dorothie is now to marry John Palmer Gent. So these three items of information yielded quite a lot of information for me. I had to draw a tree to get my head around it. |

Janet, just a couple of days ago I had an e-mail from another Parrott descendant and he had written up his family history with lots of Parrott jokes in it. It was hilarious.
