Default Which Frederick?

Hello folks

I am trying to find the parents of Frederick Watson born 1899 Newcastle under Lyne Staffs.

I have found two possible on the 1881 and 1871 census.

Both are called William and Sarah and both lived in Freehay Cheadle Staffs and both had a son Frederick born in 1871 which would be my Frederick's dad how do I find out which one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What information do you have so far, Chris? Frederick jr's birth certificate or at least census entry giving his father's occupation and his mother's name? Marriage of Frederick jr's parents, giving the occupation of Frederick sr's father plus names of witnesses?

Is this them in 1901?
9 Flash Lane, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire
Frederic Watson Head M 30 Boot & Shoe Maker Staff Cheadle
Elizabeth Watson Wife M 29 " Cheddleton
Ernest " Son 5 " Longton
Harold " Son 3 " "
Frederic " Son 1 " Trent Vale

It looks as though Fred jr was registered as Fred rather than Frederick and was born in Stoke district?
