Default Mary West

Mary West, born 12 August 1750, Edgefield, Norfolk daughter of Edward West, carpenter & Ann Baxtor. She was baptised there as well, but I didn't note that date

Married John Knights 2 July 1777, Edgefield

Buried 1 Jan 1843, Edgefield.

In 1841, she is living, a stone's throw from Edgefield Rectory, with her daughter Elizabeth Skillings nee Knights, various grandchildren, infant great-grandchild Edmund Albert Skillings, her son in law Edmund Skillings and his mother Rachel Skillings nee Middleton. Numerous other grandchildren have already emigrated to Canada.

Link to the 1841 census: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...c=&pid=8538083

(The house she lived in still existed in 1911, but is described as being in a very poor state of repair!)

The Edgefield Archdeacon's Transcripts images are on FamilySearch, Phoenix, and she was baptised 12 Aug 1750 (image no 57).

Thank you, Kite. I must update my tree. I originally looked at the records while they were still in the church, with a very impatient rector racing me through the pages.

Flip. Have checked checked the birth of their eldest child. I have her christened 28 July 1777, while the ATs shown her born 7 September 1777. I suspect those two events could be the other way round.
