Baggerley - and variations
Elizabeth Cooper married Samuel Baggerley, a shoemaker of Ailsworth, Northants in 1794.
I have found the marriages of three daughters: Elizabeth to John Rowlatt, Susanna to Joseph Popple and Mary Ann in Lewisham Kent to John Hughes. One of Ann's brothers died in 1844 and his will mentions her SONS and daughters. This implies that there were boys around in the 1840s at least. Henry Bigerly: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...c=&pid=8876154 is next door but one to Susanna Popple in 1841. Can anyone see any other likely candidates? I can't find any helpful online baptisms.

Ann's brothers would be Cooper wouldn't they?

Susanna and Elizabeth say they were b at Ailsworth and Henry says he was b at Oundle and is apparently 64 in 1851 (so older than the marriage of Elizabeth and Samuel). I wasn't sure about Mary Ann Hughes' birthplace).
Henry could be a different relation than brother to the girls - could the wording of the will be legalese for "all the children of"?

Looks like you need the PRs for Castor and Sutton but they are not yet on FreeREG.

There's an excellent website where I found the marriage of at least one of the girls. A friend wants to visit Northants RO and I begin to think I need to go too.
Samuel seems to stay put and I can't find any Baggerly/Bigerly etc giving Ailsworth/Casto/Sutton as birthplaces. Mary Ann died even before the censuses and had it not been for her unusual surname I should never have recognised her marriage in Kent. This wonderful census entry: http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...26pgplz0q3dpid shows Mary Ann's daughter with two of Elizabeth Baggerley's sisters all staying with Susanna Benton (nee Cooper)'s daughter. As all four women are married, I never recognised the significance of the visitors when first I saw the record.

Sorry, I don't understand this thread - is Ann the same person as Elizabeth?

Now I've had my second cup of coffee I understand! I agree with Merry that "sons and daughters" could just be legalese and not actually mean that there were any sons.

Kite, I keep on muddling Ann and Elizabeth in my mind. In fact, I thought that the Mary Ann Lines in that 1851 census entry was Mrs Llewellyn's granddaughter, rather than Mrs Baggerley's.
I have John Cooper's will, where he lists his numerous extended family. Unfortunately, I cannot lay hands upon it just at the moment. But Elizabeth would have been past childbearing age when he made it. The trouble is, some of them hopped across the pond, so there may be American Baggerleys lurking somewhere. (Though they would doubtless rationalise the spelling.)
