george thornley clegg b set qtr 1899
Good morning ....this is a request for a lady in Garston who cannot find her G Grandfathers birth....what she has
G Grandfather George Rogers b 1900 Liverpool - mother is Lilian Clegg ( no George Rogers shows on freebmd b Liverpool 1900 ) ( I suspect that George was not born Rogers - but Clegg ) George Rogers marries Lilian Clegg 1906 in Liverpool Lilian has - George before she marries George Rogers So I am presuming that Clegg is the surname of George I have found George Thornley Clegg b sept qtr 1899 West Derby,Liverpool could someone see if George Thornley Clegg is with Lilian Clegg in 1901 census please And was Lilian Clegg her maiden name - or was she married before ? thanks in advance allan  ADDED...George Rogers married Lilian Clegg 4th june 1906 ,Liverpool- both aged 25 - grooms father Thomas Rogers / brides father James Clegg - so we know she wasn`t married before - and also she has a brother Reuben Clegg born 1883

Going by the census records, George Thornley Clegg seems to be the son of Walter Thomas and Jeannie Nicholl Clegg.

The only Reuben Clegg I can find is shown b 1885, Garston, son of James, a widower. No Lilian with them, only John & Mary.

I looked for brother, Reuben, in 1891. Found the right one (parents James and Mary). Their dau, (Lilly) is showing as aged 11 and born in Manchester (same as parents)

Reuben 27 boot repairer b Garston George Rogers 30 bro-in-law Labourer b Ludlow, Shropshire Lilian Rogers 30 sister b Manchester John Richard Clegg 25 brother b Garston George Hornby nephew 11 Northwich Cheshire Lilian Hornby niece 8 b Northwich Cheshire William Rogers nephew 1 Garston Peter Gerons ?? boarder

In 1901 George Hornby was aged 11 months with parents Lilian Hornby (21 Manchester) and George Hornby 26 and George's father George H 71.
So, Lilian wasn't married before?????!!!!!!! Maybe not, going to look.........

I can't see an obvious marriage. Going to see if I can tell what happened to George Hornby (the dad of 1900 George).
