Default Parramatta Industrial School for Girls (NSW)

I've just discovered from the new Child Care and Protection index:

http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/inde...orm.aspx?id=74

that my grandmother's sister spent about two years in the Parramatta Industrial School for Girls (aka Biloela), which from the information I've found by googling must have been an awful place.

Has anyone ever obtained any of the records? There are 3 records for her, and it'll cost AUS $ 28.00 to get all of them, so I'd like to be able to give her grandchildren an idea of how much information is likely to be in the records, so they can decide whether to buy them.

I know that the ancestry World Archives Project have recently been indexing some NSW Industrial Schools for Girls records though I don't know whether it included Parramatta. The records are at the "in processing" stage at the moment so will hopefully go online some time in the next few months. The dates covered are supposed to be 1867-1925 so I don't know if that will be likely to include what you're after?

Some info about the project with sample images etc:

That's very interesting, Kate, I hadn't thought to look there. I think those records may well include what we what, so I'll advise them to hold off buying them for the moment. Thanks very much!
