Findmypast has a burial for a James Lewis in Llanrhidian in 1845 age 8.

And these burials for Thomas Lewis at Llanrhidian between 1871 and 1881:
1872 age 58, 1874 age 63, 1875 age 58. The middle one of those looks most likely as the age would match with the censuses.

Thanks again, Kate, I've found the image on Ancestry and it seems the best fit.

I was trying to find the children's baptisms on FMP last night but there didn't seem to be any Llanrhidian baptisms on there. I shall have another try now.

Llanrhidian isn't on the list of parishes that are included in the Welsh parish registers on FMP, but it isn't on the list of churches that are excluded either! But the Llanrhidian baptisms are on FamilySearch. None of Thomas and Mary's children on there, though. I was hoping that finding the baptisms might make it easier to find the right birth registration for at least one of them!

Ah, FamilySearch has a marriage at Llanrhidian in 1835 - Thomas Lewis / Mary Hopkin. We suspected that Mary was a Hopkin(s) because the family had a William Hopkins with them in 1841 and there was a Mary Hopkin christened at Llanrhidian 9 May 1813 (daughter of Robert and Mary.)

See Mary's thread: http://www.genealogistsforum.co.uk/f...highlight=mary

Glad to have a Hopkin/s to add to the Evanses, Joneses, Thomases, Williams and Lewises!
