I'm not sure if both steets still survive , but wondered how far Rotherfield Street and Saint James's Terrace Islington were from each other in 1881 ?
Thanks

I can't find anyone living at St James Terrace Islington in 1881, so can you give me a name so I don't measure from the wrong place!

If it's where I think it is, then they are about a third of a mile apart with Rotherfield St being north west of St James Terrace, but I'm not 100% having looked at Booths Poverty Map (1891) so hopefuly someone else will have an opinion!

This is the description of the enumeration district that St James Terrace was in:
ED 21 - The Wharfedale Road, Canal Road, New Wharf Road, Lavina Grove, Upper Winchester Street, Tenby Place, Saint James' Terrace, and 99-121 Caledonian Road, Pembroke and Thornhill Wharves, All Saints Street and All Saints Place.

Should help us work out where it was.

So St James Terrace was in between Caledonian Road and York Way very close to King's Cross Station. Rotherfield Street is north east of this but I haven't figured out the distance yet.
