Default Where did Jeremiah go?

Jeremiah Amanet was born 22/11/1824 at Shoreditch Middlesex.

He married Charlotte Gascoyne 2/11/1845 at St John Hoxton.

He appears on the 1851 and 1861 census with his family.

1851 Class: HO107; Piece: 1537; Folio: 186; Page: 3
1861 Class: RG 9; Piece: 248; Folio: 41; Page: 1

I found a newspaper article on FMP dated 19-5-1866 in the Shoreditch Observer says Jeremiah deserted his wife.

Jeremiah died 14/4/1896 in the Bethnal Green Workhouse.

Can anyone find Jeremiah in 1871 and 1881?

Jeremiah was in the workhouse in 1891 : Class: RG12; Piece: 1084; Folio 167; Page 2

There's various bits and pieces here:

Jeremiah Amanet

lol Merry I'd forgotten I'd done that. We didn't find him back then either.

I've found Jeremiah's wife in the Hackney workhouse in 1891. She was admitted and discharged twice. I wish the ancestry poor law records were indexed so I could search for them both easily.

We're working on indexing them on the World Archives Project, Toni, but it's a big job. Hackney is included in the first lot to be indexed but I don't know when the index will go live.

A lot of the poor law records do include their own indexes but you have to browse through the images to find them, if you see what I mean.

I can see it is a big job Kate. I haven't indexed for a while so I might go back and do some to help move it along a bit.

I do get what you mean about the indexes, I just haven't come across any yet.

The WAP London poor law records are "in processing" at the moment, Kit, i.e. keying and reviewing has finished.

I should add that we only indexed the "settlement and removal" records for this project, but it seemed to include a lot of notes and stuff.
