Default William Doherty Cutter

Is annoying me, lol!

He is born Sept 1847, Eton RD

In 1861 he is in Middlesex, no parents mentioned in the index, aged 13

In 1881, he is living by himself at 38 Great Russell St, Bloomsbury "dealer in antiquities, aged 34, born Slough, transcribed as William Cutler

In June 1888,William Doherty Cutter or Cutler marries Lucy Markham

In 1901, William Cutter aged 53, born Slough, is in Bloomsbury with Lucy 43, born Norfolk, Marjorie 5 & Christiana D[OHERTY] aged 8

Christiana marries in Paddington in 1918

William D Cutter dies in Paddington June 1929

So where the flip is he in 1851, 1871, 1891 & 1911?

This is their child as there is a bap for her on the LMA records:

Births Jun 1889
Cutter Lucy Doherty St Giles 1b 618

Deaths Mar 1893
Cutter Lucy Dorothy 4 St.Giles 1b 437 (mistranscription of middle name)

but this isn't helping me find them in 1891!

Erm, William doesn't seem to be with his wife and daughters in 1901. There is a space where his name might be expected, but that line is for the nextdoor property and whilst there has been something written in and then rubbed out, I don't think it ever said William Cutter.

EDIT - I lied!! He is there, but after the rest of his family!!! lol

It looks as if this is William's baptism and his sister's:
Upton Cum Chalvey, Bucks:
WILLIAM CUTTER
03 OCT 1847
ANNE CUTTER -
21 JUN 1846
both children of William George Cutter & Jane. But that doesn't help me find them in 1851!

Though he has another sister Mary Elizabeth, who marries John Owens & she is in Lewisham in 1881.

Brilliant, Merry!

And if she is from Cork, I wonder what the odds are that her maiden name was Doherty?

Highly likely. I can't see they were married, but maybe his previous wife was still about?!

So where does the 1901 get the William D Cutter, born Slough? It looks like at least the same page as the rest of the family. (cribbing the ref at the bottom of the page!)

Cheers!
I've now found William George in 1881 as a widower.

Jane died in 1880.

Her daughter Jane was born Upper Norwood, prob 1860. That ought to give me a fix in Croydon area in 1861. Do you think I can find them?!!
