Dorset databases - ancestry
Some of them were done by the World Archives Project and will be free indexes, but not all of them:
Dorset Militia Lists 1757-1860 Dorset Alehouse Licence Records 1754-1821 Dorset Jury Lists 1825-1921 Dorset Calendars of Prisoners 1854-1904 Dorset Convict Transportation Records 1724-1791 Dorchester Prison Admission and Discharge Registers 1782-1901 Dorset Land Tax Returns 1780-1832 Dorset Vagrant Passes 1739-1791 The Vagrant Passes database includes lots of people who were travelling through Dorset on their way back to their parish of settlement and didn't come from Dorset, so worth a look even if you don't have Dorset ancestors. Also this one has been updated: Dorset Wills and Probates 1565-1858 Let us know what you find! |
