I can't work out the occupation for James Renew c1829

The 1901 is a bit clearer than the 1881 but I still can't figure out what it's meant to be.

The 1901 has India scrawled across it.

I'm thinking india rubber.

When my daughter was doing textiles for GCSE she did screen printing and had to use something she called "Gutter" (sp) to stop the colours running together.

I could be well off the mark, off to google
