Looking for a Sands family in Cork c 1842 and could do with being put in the right direction
All I have is a Bridget Sands who says in 1901 census that she was born in Cork. A James Sands was godfather to one of her sons in 1870 - could he be a brother?
She married a Francis McQuade/McQuaid/McQuid (can't find marriage) and their first child was born in Jarrow in 1864.
I went onto findmypast in case the Sands was a military family and she was born where her father was station but only found a reference to the Cork Constitution?
14 Sept 1837 for a James Sands in Kinsale - died at his residence "whose loss will be severely felt by the poor of that town"
now could that be a relative or a red herring
Another was a Captain George Sands of Dunowen in the Clonakilty Directory (don't know which year).
Neither of these seems likely but trying to find any Sands in Cork is problematic.
Did find in the 1881 census a married lady Kate Sands born in Cork living in Birmingham (no husband though).
This is the only one of my Irish rellies that actually says where she came from the rest I haven't a clue.
