I'm sorry Kate I don't know, I was sure I had the certificate because I have the father's names, but I can't find it.
Going to have another look for it now. |

Found the witnesses on a parish record I'd kept.
They were - Joseph Wayman, James Saunders |

Haven't found anything to do with those witnesses, but Elizabeth's birthplace on the 1871 census looks like Coed Farm, Llanover Upper, and on the 1851 census there is a James Edwards at Coad Farm
James Edwards Head Mar 52 Farmer of 100 Acres Lanover Monmouthshire Rachel Do Wife Mar 40(?) Llanwenarth Do William Do Son U 16 Haulier Lanover Do Susan Do Daur 11 Farmer's Daur at home Do Do Mary Do Daur 5 Scholar Do Do James Do Son 8 Scholar Do Do Leah Do Daur 2 Do Do HO107; Piece: 2447; Folio: 192; Page: 3 No Elizabeth there, but it looks hopeful because Elizabeth's oldest daughter on the 1871 is called Rachel. Annoyingly on the previous census James and Rachel only have one child living with them, when there should be at least two (Wm and Susan) or at least three if Elizabeth is theirs!
James 38 farmer Yes Rachell Yes Susan 1 Yes Coed, Llanover, Monmouthshire

Wow Kate, That looks really good, doesn't it!
Morf - Does the marriage cert for Elizabeth say her father was a farmer? Surely yes??

Girls, you are amazing.
Yes, her father was a farmer, not only that but her daughter (my great grandmother) was born at Hem Coed Farm in 1869. My OH and I tried to find the farm about two years ago, but couldn't and I couldn't find any info on it either. Also, the names of the children at the farm (her siblings) are the same names as her children. |
