I don't know much about Canadian geography so I'm not sure if this is the same Peterborough, but there is a Samuel P Jacobs, 53, farmer, born US, at Village of Ashburnham, Peterborough County, Canada West, on the 1861 census of Canada. With him are Rossand(?) Jacobs, 48, female born C E (= Canada East?), Annie S Jacobs, 19, born C E, Albert T Jacobs 14 born C E, and Almira Jacobs 6 born US. I think Albert's middle initial is a T but could he be the Albert J Jacobs who was a witness at Emma's wedding? Maybe a bit young though? I'll see if I can find anything more.

Thanks Kite, that sounds like it could be him and it is the right area.
Where did you find that? I've been trawling the Canadian censuses and could find nothing that came close to matching the family! I've just found that listing Can't understand how I missed that yesterday! Thank you.

No not yet
If it is my Jacobs family, my GGG grandma has already been found listed as Eleanor and Elmira - neither of which could possibly be the name on this census - so what's another alias! LOL UPDATE: I have found this family on 1850 USA census & her name is Rosamund! Among the children living with them is a Jane. This is possibly my Emma Jane, as she is listed as Jane in Canadian 1861 census when, living with her parents-in-law.
