Thank you so much found them - thought I was going mad.
Hoping to go up to Manchester end of next month so will try and find them in the parish records. Trouble is for the births that era how do I confirm who James's parents were? He had 3 sons James, Robert and William Daughters were Eliza. Hannah and Sarah. St Marys seems to have an abundence of Andrew families. I think Eliza was perhaps after Ann's mother as there was an Eliz Bolton with them in the 1841 census. Think Eliz Bolton died in Macclesfield in 1842 so hopefully when I get the death certificate it will say who her husband was. |

Maybe if you / we dig around enough it'll become clear, for instance, look at the witnesses' names on the marriage (unfortunately RecordSearch doesn't say who they were), who were the other children of the possible parents, look for marriages for them and see if your James was a witness at any (comparing signatures or if he made a mark), look for a marriage for the other James, look for the other James on censuses and see if he ever has any relatives with him, look for wills left by parents, find out the fathers' occupations and see if they give any clues, neighbours on censuses, etc.
