Thomas & Elizabeth Grey
I know virtually nothing about this couple other than that they had several children baptised at West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire between 1783 and 1793

On the Posse Comitatus (1798) there is a Thomas Grey listed as a Servant at West Wycombe.

I'm pleased you found it, Asa.

There's a Thomas Grey who married an Elizabeth Simmons in Halton, Bucks, on 27 April 1777. They had three children in Halton:
- John, bapt 29 June 1777 - Elizabeth, bapt 29 May 1779 - William, bapt 5 Aug 1781 Info on Family Search. Could this be the same couple? As Sarah was born in West Wycombe in 1783, they may have moved from Halton to West Wycombe. Last edited by Shona; 18-02-13 at 10:11. |

I was looking at them Shona - it looks quite possible doesn't it - I'd never heard of Halton but its only about 13 miles.
Elizabeth I haven't been able to open it yet but will see if I can download it as I've a lot of Bucks ancestors and there aren't a lot of online resources |

Just noticed that there are some public trees on Ancestry which have attributed both the Halton births and West Wycombe births to Thomas and Elizabeth.

Asa, I have a CD of the parish registers of Halton.
There aren't many Greys on it - just the marriage of Thomas and Elizabeth (by Banns, both otp, both signed X, witnesses William Weedon Thos Rickett), the three baptisms (no extra details like abode or occupation) and a burial: 11 Sep 1823 Elizabeth GREY aged 74 of Halton - any chance she could be your Elizabeth? Bucks FHS do a lot of parish registers on disc - I've found them really helpful for my Bucks branches. |

Shona, there is a marriage for a William Gray at West Wycombe in 1802 and an Elizabeth in 1796 which may be two of the children baptised at Halton.
Thank you very much Lindsay - I must have a look at their website cos I really need to start investing a bit more into my Bucks ancestors. Thanks for the details as well. |
