these are my early holders,the info my mum gave me and i went to gloucestershire records office.as you see its well thum because i spilt ink on it but i can still make out what it says.i have 23 pages of this as its john, holders life,land who owned and bought,children but it stops in 1800 with henretta holder who lived in taynton house and died.i cant find who in johns children we originated from so i was trying to work back from joseph.i have a gap in the middle.brenda xxxx

re the question where is stanley, i have some people born hunslett and it sometimes says stanningley as well, hope this helps

It's in Gloucestershire!

Stanningley, however, is at Pudsey, just west of Leeds.

If Joseph was born in Stroud or Stanley [presumably you have found this on the census?] then 'Stanley' is likely to be either Kings Stanley or Leonard Stanley - both small villages near Stroud, Gloucestershire

i lived in hunslet ....staningly its about 8 miles from hunslet

i lived in hunslet never knew my great gran lived there too.brenda xxx

staningly and hunslet...these are yorkshire not gloucestershire brenda xxx

there was a story that land was left to one of the holder.. girls. mum said her parents wouldnt let her have it and it went to the church......they were baptist.brendaxxx
