A warning about other relatives' names in indexes
I was looking for Hannah Bishop. Last sighting 1871, in Cobham, Surrey. Looking for her husband I found he'd died in 1875 so thought Hannah might have remarried.
I found a marriage 1876 (right time) at St. Mary Magdalene, Richmond (got me excited as Hannah's aunt & cousins lived there). But I was a bit dubious as Hannah was living in Cobham, Surrey and the index gave father's name as William Bishop. I decided to check the image anyway - and was thrilled to find father was William Chowns! Hannah's sister and brother Susan and William were witnesses. Chowns is an unusual name and I also knew that Susan had also married at St. Mary Magdalene. But if I'd just gone on the index I would have assumed it was the wrong Hannah!
