Default On the hunt for G G Grandmother

Just sharing some thoughts in the hope that it makes sense to me, or perhaps someone else can get their head round a little problem!

For years I have had G G Grandfather, George Higgs b 1803 Windsor ( from census records-no birth found) "married" to(living with) Jane Unknown b 1825 Mitcham Surrey, again only from census records. The first census I have either of them in is 1871, living in East Peckham Kent. The daughter Elizabeth was born 1843 in Kent, from census 1871 with her "husband" and children, no birth record or previous census found.

We have looked at this family before, I'll find the link and insert it in a mo.

My problem is, last night I found a marriage for George Higgs on FMP, 1880 to Jane Huntington, they are listed as Widow/widower and Jane's father's surname is Smith. I can't find a marriage for Jane to a Mr Huntington.

Is Jane Unknown and Jane Huntington/Smith the same person? you can't tell them apart from 1871 and 1881 census (ie pre and post marriage) Did they just live together waiting to become available?

George was about 77 at the time of the marriage and died the following year.

What's Jane's father's first name on that marriage, please, Sue? And his occupation? Or does it just say "deceased"?
