There's something not quite right about the body language. If all was normal you'd expect the lady to be looking at the child or camera. It's odd that her eyes are closed (or looking downwards).
Photos were usually taken to celebrate an occasion (engagement, marriage, etc) what would this be to celebrate otherwise I wonder?
