The John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but it was new to me.

The John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera is one of the databases on the Gale site, and it contains loads of scanned images.

This is the description of the database:

Quote:

This collection provides access to thousands of items selected from the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera, offering unique insights into the changing nature of everyday life in Britain in the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Categories include Nineteenth-Century Entertainment, the Booktrade, Popular Prints, Crimes, Murders and Executions, and Advertising.
I didn't find any of my people there, because none of them really fit those descriptions, but I tried it out by searching for Zoe's Henrietta Hodson, and lots of playbills with her name on came up.

Ooooooooh. Really? In which case I must hunt out my Lancs library card.

Thanks for the tip off

Ooh, very nice. That's her father, right?

Actually, I need to go back and check the date because it could be her grandfather - although he was more singing and composing than comedy so, yes, most likely to be her father

I noticed there was a Miss Latilla on one or two of the playbills.
