Hello

I have just been told my great grandchild of
William Hercules Hellyer
that he tragically died on 10/4/1901 off Bognor with another fisherman named Allen.

Now i cant find a death cert but his wife did marry again in 1904

I know i need to look in local papers but do live that near to bognor to start looking

Just wonder where is death cert
and how could she get married again so soon if body was not found as no death cert ( just guess no body at moment) thought you had to wait seven years

thanks

I'm guessing there would have been an inquest - that should be recorded on the death cert. You'd be able to find local newspaper reports once you had an exact date. You might even find if you sent a nice email to the local library that they'd send you a photocopy for a small fee.

FreeBMD and therefore Ancestry too, have the surname transcribed as Hellver.
