I'd like to find the marriage of James and Frederica Cook. I have an Edward Adolphus Cook born in 1806 and died in 1821, who lived at Whitechapel. I'm curious to see if there is any connection between the two.

I can't find the marriage on Ancestry, Elizabeth. There is another son James Calder Cook in 1830 at St Dunstan Stepney, master mariner of MEOT

Thanks, Asa. That one also popped up on FMP.

I have a James Cook born in 1808 at Whitechapel. His elder brother Edward Adolphus died and I wondered whether there was a connection.

However, by the terms of his father, Edward's, will dated 1826, James was meant to take over the coach building business, so it's unlikely to be the same person.

Of course, mariners move around a lot and James and Frederica Cook could have married elsewhere - e.g. Whitby or Portsmouth. This happened with another family which moved around a lot.

There is another child, Lucretia Maria Cooke, born 17 Dec 1824 and baptised 14 Jan 1825 at St Dunstan, Stepney. MEOT, mariner.

Thanks, Kate, I'll make a note of her. They seemed to like classical names:

Lucretia
Adolphus

and

Theodosia in the family I'm definitely researching.
