Mary, did you have her age upon burial?

Mary from Italy

Yes, she was 46.

I don't have any more details of the marriage, but I've just put a request for a look-up on RootsChat.

Yes, I do have that one listed as a possible, as Carleton's only a couple of miles from Skipton, but as I don't have anything else to go on I haven't assumed it's the correct one for the time being.

Thanks, I hadn't got around to looking for siblings for her.

Maria's oldest son was called Thomas, which is promising.

Hm, there's a William Chester of the right age to be the brother in Bradford in 1841, with a wife Isabella, and there's a matching marriage in Skipton. I suppose it was fairly common for people to move from Skipton to Bradford, but still, it looks promising.

It looks as though the sister married John Wellock, and she's also in Bradford in 1851.

However, I've followed the Inmans right through the censuses, and never found this brother or sister with any of them.

I was just about to post the William Chester in Bradford.:)

I suppose you just keep them noted until you find more information.

Yes, you never know what'll turn up as more records come online.

In 1861 William is with wife Mary, not Isabella. He had Northrop step-children.

There is this marriage:

Name: CHESTER, William
Registration District: Bradford
County: Yorkshire
Year of Registration: 1852
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Spouse's last name: Not available before 1912
Volume No: 9B
Page No: 54

To:
Mary Northrop

If you ever wanted to check his parents, then the marriage cert. would be useful.

Isabella Chester died in Sept qr 1851 in Bradford.

Hannah Wellock had a daugther called Maria (see 1851 census).

That marriage for William might come in useful, thanks very much. Very irritating that these Chesters aren't with the Inmans on any of the censuses. There appears to be another sister too: Ann bp 1811, who may have married a John Inman.

Mary, are you familiar with the Craven Indexes done by Josie Walsh? There is a lot of stuff there. I bought them from her website: www.cravenindexes.co.uk

You might want to purchase them yourself ultimately, but meanwhile I can show you some Chester and Inman items I found and you can see if you think it is potentially useful.

There were a lot of Chesters in Carleton St Mary and a lot of Inmans in Kildwick St Andrews. Do you want to pm me your email address and I'll send you a sample?

Thanks very much, Janet, I'll send you a PM.

Mary, did you PM the right Janet? I haven't got anything. Anyway, I've just pm'd you with my own email address.
